A fresh month, which means a new Steam Hardware & Software Survey is out. Looking over the October 2022 data, it appears we've hit a fresh high point.
The latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey is out now for September 2022, with it showing that clearly the Steam Deck with SteamOS is the most popular way now to game on Linux.
After 7 months of seeing the Linux user share on Steam continue to grow, December saw 2021 end with it dropping slightly.
I think we can now firmly say that we are the 1%? Another month is down as so the latest Steam Hardware Survey numbers are out and it continues being very positive for Linux gaming.
Something magical appears to be happening on Steam. Not only is Linux above 1% for another month but we've now seen 6 months of it continuing to rise.
I still can't quite believe it but the Linux user share on Steam has not only remained above 1% for three months, it's actually risen again.

After initially showing the decrease as an increase, it seems Valve have now corrected the Steam Hardware Survey results for October 2018.
Valve have put up their usual monthly survey and the interesting thing for us is that the Linux share is the highest it's been for some time now.
